Adapting food-based strategies to improve the nutrition of the landless
نویسنده
چکیده
Food-based approaches that focus on dietary diversification are effective strategies for reducing microand macro-nutrient deficiencies in malnourished populations. These approaches such as Helen Keller International‘s (HKI) homestead food production (HFP) model seek to improve the micronutrient intake of individuals, increase household food security, and advance women‘s empowerment. The standard intervention includes gardening, poultry production, group marketing, and nutrition behavior change communication. However, this model has not yet been fully adapted to improve the lives of those who live in land constrained households.
